Get to Know Lauren

Nutrition Philosophy: I collaborate with my clients to help them ditch the diet mentality. My goal is to support them in cultivating a healthy relationship with food so they can fully embrace and enjoy life.
What is the difference in a Nutritionist vs. Registered Dietitian?
All Registered Dietitians (RDs) are nutritionists, but not all nutritionists are Registered Dietitians. While anyone can call themselves a nutritionist, becoming an RD requires meeting rigorous, standardized qualifications, which include:
-
Education: A minimum of a bachelor's degree (and as of 2024, a master’s degree) in a program that includes coursework in food and nutrition sciences, food service systems management, business, economics, sociology, biochemistry, physiology, microbiology, and chemistry.
-
Accredited Training: Completion of a supervised, accredited dietetic internship.
-
Examination: Successfully passing the national Registration Examination for Dietitians.
-
Ongoing Education: Maintaining registration through continuing professional education, earning at least 75 continuing education units (CEUs) every five years.
These qualifications ensure that RDs are highly trained experts in nutrition and capable of providing evidence-based, personalized care to meet a wide range of dietary needs.
